Have you ever felt that meal planning takes too much time?
Have you ever been bored with your lazy desk salad?
So have we, but we found a trick, which saved us lots of time, and even money: Mason Jar Meals!
The secrets for the perfect Mason Jar meal
This is a winning strategy to avoid the morning rush and ensure healthy, and tasty lunches for the whole family at all times!
Gather all the ingredients you would put into your usual salads, and layer them strategically as follows (yes, jar layering is almost a science!):
Now, let's put it into practice:
Three bean mason jar salad
Prep time : 15 minutes
Makes: 5 jars
- 10 tbsp organic tahini
- 6 medium carrots
- 8 stalks celery
- 1 red pepper
- 1 yellow pepper
- 1 cucumber
- 2 avocados, diced
- 3 cups organic brown rice
-1-1/2 cups organic chickpeas cooked, drained
-1-1/2 cups organic kidney beans cooked, drained
- 1-1/2 cups organic black beans cooked, drained
- 3 tbsp organic pecans
- 1 tbsp organic sunflower seeds
- 1 tbsp organic pumpkin seeds
- 5 cups spinach
Wash and cut the veggies, and begin layering the ingredients in the mason jars.
First, pour in the dressing, then all the veggies, and avocado. To prevent the avocado from browning we recommend to pour on it a gentle spritz of fresh lemon juice.
Move on with kidney beans, chickpeas, red black beans, and brown rice. Add sunflower and pumpkin seeds, pecans, and finally top with spinach.
Close the jars, secure them with a lid, and refrigerate.
When you are ready to eat them, give a good shake beforehand, and pour into a large bowl, or eat straight from the jar.
So flavourful, so colourful... Simply made to be devoured!
